Colmore Bid

The Colmore Business Improvement District (BID) encompasses a key part of Birmingham's office core, covering the city's thriving business quarter from Great Charles Street Queensway, south towards Birmingham New Street Station and the Bullring shopping centre.

The BID includes prime city centre office locations such as Colmore Row, Cornwall Street and Edmund Street, along with city landmarks including St Philip's Cathedral and Snow Hill train station.

The team behind the BID has set out a clear purpose to deliver the changes and improvements that occupiers and other businesses in the area have identified as priorities. Through consultation with existing occupiers within the BID, a number of areas that would benefit from additional investment have already been identified and include the following:

  • Creation of a clear brand and identity for the area and the businesses within it
  • Appointment of wardens to assist business visitors and boost employee safety and security
  • Creation of quality streetscapes, furniture and lighting, coupled with a range of environmental initiatives and improvements
  • Implementation of better signage, accessibility and information
  • Investment in the local community through education, culture, employment and environmental initiatives
  • Promotions within the area, to benefit the business community and promote the BID as part of the wider city offer
  • Enhanced street cleaning and maintenance services
  • Development of new planting and public spaces to green our business area

Importantly, these projects and services will be provided in addition to those already undertaken by public bodies, such as Birmingham City Council, the City Centre Partnership, and West Midlands Police, to ensure the continued delivery of high quality services.
